THE MISSION OF UNMANAGEABLE ARTS IS TO SUPPORT ARTISTS AND PROJECTS THAT CONNECT ACROSS DISCIPLINE, HISTORY, CULTURE, AND COMMUNITY THROUGH CREATIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND FUNDRAISING SUPPORT.

Unmanageable Arts assists in lifting creative projects through planning, funding, execution, promotion, and booking. In particular, we prioritize our resources toward lifting large-scale artistic projects that are rooted in anti-racist, feminist ideology and are driven by artists who have been historically under-resourced in the performing arts. Through our services, we help to lift inventive projects that challenge convention, paving the way for artists with mission-focused, community-responsive projects to share their work on a global scale by acting as a bridge to arts and culture partners worldwide. Unmanageable Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, organized in the state of Tennessee.

Formed in 2019, Unmanageable Arts grew out of a shared need for resources that build community through art and operate outside of a traditional commercial structure. Two women with varied experience in both the commercial music industry and the nonprofit arts world came together, recognizing a need to provide artists with resources and support.

Traditionally, individual artists working outside the bounds of commercial art-making or nonprofit institutions don’t have proper funding, infrastructure, or resources to fully develop and sustain special, large-scale projects. As a result, artists often struggle to launch projects, being stretched beyond their capacities. After a premiere, building on a project’s momentum in order to create robust continued life beyond a commission is extraordinarily difficult, requiring intensive resources. Unmanageable Arts exists to nurture these projects so that artists can focus on creation.
